My editor at Abrams instructed me to write a book that evinced “unity and beauty,” so I collaborated with the amazing photographer Susan Middleton (many of whose photographs grace this website).  My text is an overview of evolutionary concepts, and long captions tell evolutionary stories about their photographed subjects.  A natural history museum between two covers, this book bridges the worlds of art and science, inviting reflection upon arguably the most influential idea of all time.
